Clickbait?

This was clickbait, We did not really develop an educational mobile app in three days but in fact, we actually did it in just 3 days. Confused? Curious as well? You’ll quickly understand it all.

Start-up Phase?

We had a phase, let’s say what every group of last year engineering student has,

THE START-UP PHASE

Government banning all the Chinese apps led to this spark in all our lives to develop something and publish it, which would help everyone and we were hoping we would replace it with what was out there which everyone was using in day-to-day life.

We failed with our first idea, we got looped back into that exhausting and burned-out phase.

Finally, a few weeks later. We all agreed on an educational application idea.

We were just making mockups and sketching out the design and working with the colors and talking about all the features that should be integrated into our application that’s going to help the upcoming engineering students with almost everything that was related to their syllabus.

What happened next was devastating, and I wish I could get that time back in my life.

We never worked on it, days went by, weeks and months. we never worked on it.

But one fine night, I was talking with one of my friends from our idea group. He and I decided, we waited enough and the idea wasn’t gonna work on itself. It’s us who have to turn that idea into the product that we really wanted it to be.

We just grinded and did everything that we thought was possible to just get what we wanted and it wasn’t easy.

Sleepless nights with back pains and our eyes all dried out and late-night discord calls, But in the end. It worked out :)

We made an application in three days, that includes all those crazy designs from Adobe XD and all those youtube videos that really paid off in the end.

Olversity? What’s that?

The application’s called “Olversity”. The name itself is made from two words

OL = Online and Versity = basically the better half of University.

I’ll try to describe the features really short.

1. Question Papers

It has a number of question papers in pdf format for different engineering branches for Mumbai University.

2. Syllabus

It has a pdf viewer that can be viewable from our application and it lists out the syllabus for different branches which would be around 15.

3. Practicals

This feature has code snippets, suppose a student would want to find the palindrome program for python or an 8-bit multiplication program. It’s just a click away from the list of subjects. Also, we have tried to implement more languages in any subject if it was possible for us. They’re well implemented and tested codes :D

4. Study Material

All throughout our 4 years of engineering phase, we have discovered many youtube gems that have helped us with the subjects and to learn any simple-to-hard topics. We accumulated all those channels with respect to each semester and tried to put them out in a list table format.

5. CGPA Converter/CGPA Holder

The converter feature can come across as very handy, to help with the calculations and keeping up well with our resume up to date.

The Holder feature basically will keep all your semester CGPA saved in a text format, so you can open up our application and you’ll remember it. You don’t always have to worry and open up your result pdf and view them.

6. To-Do List

Just to make things easier, we also implemented a to-do list that would help students in any way.

7. Dark Mode feature

Last but not the least, It is what it says it is.

As of now, the application probably still has many bugs and we ourselves came out to see many when we rolled it out on the play store. They’ll be surely fixed :D

Here’s the link to the application, if you’re interested:

We are in the process to be releasing another application that we’ve been working on and it would help our society in a way.

Stay Tuned.
